Memories: In Wonderland

I remember meeting Alice and her friends in Central Park. Apparently they could not afford an apartment.

Well, there were great apartments in New York.

Unfortunately they seemed to exist in another universe. I remember the hotel room. The price seemed high but reasonable for Manhattan. When I opened the door it hit something about half way: the bed, which took up about three-quarters of the space. There were no windows. I went down to the reception and started a conversation that began with the word “Seriously …”. The clerk was very polite, apologized and gave me another room that appeared large in comparison. I guess that is how this city works.

I remember craning my neck.

I remember taking the ferry to Staten Island, seeing the citadels of money and trade receding into the early morning mist, …

I remember searching the Internet for the best coffee places in town. I picked one and marked the spot in a map. When I got close I realized that the mark covered a whole block. It took some time to find the place. They had a table at the back, where I enjoyed the special brew of the day.

I remember the stereotype, …

I remember the skyline …

I think Wonderland is a good place to end my trip down Memory Lane.
