Since I read Robinson Crusoe I think that a true island has to meet certain criteria: Do you get there by boat? Is there only one settlement or less? Can you walk around it in less than a week? I am told that New Zealand has three major islands, but only one of them meets this romantic requirements.
I walk off the quay …
… into the village.
There seem to be more boats in the harbour …
… than houses on the hills.
I walk for a minute and find myself on a beach …
… in the company of a duck …
… and a man appearing from the sea.
I take my time to look closely …
… and leave my foot prints in the sand.
From the beach …
… I walk into the hills …
… where, I guess Olli you like this, I find a golf course.
When the sun sets …
… I return to the village and try the oysters. I truly feel on an Island.
